Dryvit Outsulation® RMD was chosen from many building materials to be used on one of four homes being constructed as part of a research project in Tennessee.  The organization leading this research project is ZEBRAlliance.  This organization integrates the components of Oak Ridge National Laboratory's (ORNL) energy-efficient technologies into the construction of homes to be used as test markets to gauge the integral success and affordability of the components and the houses. Through the focused efforts of the Alliance members, new energy-efficient components will be tested in order to provide homeowners with information on how to buy the best energy efficient technologies for their homes.

On this home (Home No. 4), the team decided to use the following construction assembly:

  • 2 x 4 wood framing, 16-in. on center
  • Plywood sheathing
  • Dryvit's Backstop NT air and water-resistive barrier
  • Dryvit's AquaFlash around all openings
  • 5 in. of EPS insulation on the outside - no interior batt insulation !
  • Dryvit's Genesis base coat and adhesive
  • Dryvit's Panzer 20 Mesh around lower 4' of house
  • Dryvit's Mojave E Finish
