      In cases where continuous insulation (CI) is not required, Dryvit offers direct applied systems that provide an option for a Dryvit exterior finish system to be applied over exterior cement board with a water-resistive barrier and moisture drainage. This affords the architect the option to choose from traditional or specialty Dryvit finishes like brick, lymestone, granite and even metal panels for the building exterior.

Backstop™ NT-VB

A high performance, non-cementitious water-resistive membrane and air/vapour barrier

Backstop NT-VB is a flexible, polymer-based, non-cementitious, water-resistive barrier, that when properly installed prevents water penetration, eliminates air infiltration and retards vapour diffusion. Backstop NT-VB used with AquaFlash™ and AquaFlash Mesh, provides an effective water-resistive, vapour-retardant protective membrane for exterior rated sheathings and other approved substrates. Backstop NT-VB has been engineered to be versatile and easy to apply. Backstop NT-VB is also approved for use behind ALL cladding types (See DSC 268 for more details on using Backstop NT-VB and AquaFlash behind claddings other than EIFS.)

Once fully cured, Backstop NT-VB can be left exposed to the elements for 30 days. It can be applied with a trowel, roller or sprayed and backrollered. Coverage may vary slightly depending on application technique and substrate. Backstop-NT-VB shall be applied in two coats at a maximum combined rate of 16-17 m2 (180-190 ft²) per 27 kg (60 lb) pail. Each coat shall be applied at a maximum rate of 35 m² (380 ft²) per pail yielding a total maximum combined coverage of 16-17 m² (180-190 ft²) per pail, translating to an overall dry mil thickness of 0.6 mm (24 mils).
